Short answer: Cityscape is a Mattamy Homes community in NE Calgary, bounded by Métis Trail, Country Hills Boulevard and Airport Trail. It has townhomes, duplexes and detached homes, a 115-acre environmental reserve with a wetland at its core, a cricket pitch and the Cityscape Square shopping centre. It has no schools of its own yet, but a public elementary and a Catholic elementary/junior high are in the works.

Cityscape is one of the communities I show most often to buyers who want a newer home close to the airport. It sits in Calgary’s northeast, with Métis Trail on the west, Country Hills Boulevard on the north, Airport Trail on the south and the future 60 Street NE extension on the east. Mattamy Homes started building here in the early 2010s, so today you will find both brand-new homes and resale homes that are only a few years old.

Why people move to Cityscape

Nature at the centre. The community wraps around a 46-hectare (115-acre) environmental reserve with an interpretive wetland at its core, and the Rotary/Mattamy Greenway pathway runs through it. It is a nice surprise in a newer suburb: real open space instead of only small pocket parks.

A cricket pitch. Mattamy built a cricket pitch in one of Cityscape’s parks in 2017. For many families I work with, that alone puts Cityscape on the list.

Shopping close by. Cityscape Square, at Métis Trail and Cityscape Boulevard, is about 85,000 square feet across nine buildings. When it launched in 2022 it was anchored by Sanjha Punjab Grocery, with restaurants, a dental office, an optometrist, physio and a daycare among the tenants. Sunridge Mall and CrossIron Mills are both a short drive away.

Quick to the airport and highways. Since the City extended Airport Trail east through Métis Trail to 60 Street NE (finished in 2022), getting to the airport and Deerfoot Trail is easy. Country Hills Boulevard and Stoney Trail connect you to the rest of the city. The closest CTrain is Saddletowne station in Saddle Ridge, just south of Airport Trail.

Schools in Cityscape

This is the big thing to understand: Cityscape does not have a school inside the community yet, so students currently attend schools in nearby communities. Two are in the works:

  • Public (Calgary Board of Education): Cityscape Elementary was on the list of new CBE schools announced on February 27, 2026, at the planning stage.
  • Catholic (Calgary Catholic School District): Alberta’s 2026 approved school capital list includes a new elementary/junior high school in Cityscape, at the design stage.

Planning and design come before construction, so opening dates are not set. Until then, designated schools and busing can change, so always confirm the designated school for a specific address with the school board before you buy.

What kinds of homes can you buy?

Mattamy offers townhomes, duplexes and single-family detached homes here. When CREB looked at Cityscape in 2017, it noted lots a little larger than average, some plans with five bedrooms upstairs, and spice kitchens as an option, which is why the community is popular with larger and multigenerational families. Townhomes give first-time buyers a lower-cost way in, and CREB reported that the remaining land includes sites for mid-rise homes, so expect more variety over time.

Tips before you buy in Cityscape

  • Plan for school transportation. Until the new schools open, ask the boards about busing and fees for your address.
  • Ask what is planned next to the lot. School sites, the mid-rise sites and future phases can change the view and traffic on your street.
  • Check flight paths and road noise. Cityscape is close to the airport and busy roads. Visit at different times of day.
  • Compare your neighbours. Skyview Ranch, Redstone, Cornerstone and Savanna are all close by with different prices and amenities.
